A beautiful memorial
On September 11th, 2001, 2,977 people died in a terrorist attack on the World Trade Center.
On September 12th, 2011, a memorial commemorating the victims was opened to the public.
Steve and Mary Stimmel, Iowans for LIFE supporters, were in New York recently and visited the memorial. Mary snapped the photo above of a bronze parapet which inscribes the names of the victims. You’ll note the acknowledgement of the unborn child. Mary observed that:
“The unborn child was just as much a victim as anyone else in the World Trade Center attack.”
In all, eleven unborn persons are acknowledged on the 152 parapets on the memorial grounds. The meaning is clear: their lives matter.
Mixed signals
On January 22nd, 2019, New York Governor, Andrew Cuomo, directed that the One World Trade Center light up their 408-foot spire in pink to celebrate the signing of the Reproductive Health Act. The RHA permits abortion at any point of a pregnancy, right up to the instant of birth.
Ironic, isn’t it? The same site that commemorates the dignity of the unborn victims of a terrorist attack celebrates a law which promotes the death of their unborn peers. Talk about mixed signals.
The state of New York aborts 239 unborn persons a day. The RHA will increase those numbers.
The pink specter of death despoiled a beautiful memorial.
