The pro-life movement united last Saturday night
Pulse Life Advocate’s Christmas Gala on Saturday was a huge success! We brought together a melting pot of key players in the pro-life movement to launch an exciting strategy for 2026.
Students for Life was represented in the person of our keynote speaker, Kristan Hawkins, their president. Turning Point USA, the Family Leader, InnerVisions HealthCare, Susan B Anthony Pro-Life America, Mary’s Helping Hands, Iowa Catholic Radio, Iowa Knights of Columbus, Catholic Diocese of Des Moines, and Gabriel’s Corner all sent key people and/or supported the event, reflecting the resolve within the pro-life movement to work in harmony, tapping into the respective strengths of each organization.
Young and old Catholics and Protestants packed the hall in a show of enthusiastic solidarity.
One attendee, Rick Lehman, noticed something immediately:
“What stood out. ALL THE YOUNG PEOPLE THERE!”
We had a record number of high school and college students present. This reflects the incredible draw of Kristan Hawkins among our youth.
Turning Point USA reacts to Pulse Life Advocates’ Christmas Gala
One of these young attendees was Makenna Six, a Field Agent for Turning Point USA, who shared her reactions to Pulse’s pro-life outreach:
“We are deeply grateful for Pulse Life Advocates and the impactful work they do on behalf of the unborn. Earlier this year, we were honored to speak at one of their events, where we experienced firsthand their generosity and support. They later kindly provided our Club America student leaders with discounted tickets and the invaluable opportunity to meet Kristan Hawkins.
Our students loved talking with Kristan as well as hearing her speech and the stories of Charlie, their friendship, and how much she dearly cared for him. She seemed touched by his life and legacy in the same way that many of us have also been.
We were also impacted by Abraham Lincoln’s words echoed by Maggie DeWitte that “no human being should have the right to do what is morally wrong.” We are thankful for the partnership we share with Pulse Life Advocates as we continue working together to advance the cause of freedom for all.”
Doesn’t that give you hope for the world!
Tough issues addressed
Pro-life journalist, Lisa Bourne, has covered events around the country, even at the Vatican in years past. She appreciates the way Pulse and Kristan Hawkins reach our youth and don’t avoid the tough issues, like IVF:
“Pulse Life Advocates always does an excellent job of hosting an informative and entertaining event that effectively underscores the importance of the organization’s tireless work in defense of life.
What I appreciated about Kristan Hawkins’s address was her forthrightness about the current abortion landscape, from her reflections on the silencing of a leading pro-life voice through the assassination of Charlie Kirk to the disturbing reality that IVF kills more children than abortion. Kristan has been an important presence for reaching young people with a pro-life message for 20 years, but her perspective on the sanctity of human life is pertinent for people of all ages.”
The pro-life movement is intrinsically linked to the Judeo-Christian underpinnings of America which recognizes that each person enjoys unearned, God-given rights of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.
The Declaration of Independence proudly states this creed, upon which the United States of America was built.
Pulse Life Advocates premiers the America250 film
In honor of next year’s 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration, Pulse Life Advocates premiered a movie (above) that we filmed at the footsteps of the Iowa Capitol recognizing this pro-life link.
Pulse will be working with Iowa Lieutenant Governor Chris Cournoyer who heads the America250 Iowa Task Force celebrating the Declaration’s signing.
Marilyn Lane, co-founder of the Christ Our Life Conference, reflects the views of so many Iowans who see God at the heart of all things pro-life:
“Not only did Kristan Hawkins’ passion for life shine through every story she told, her love of God and devotion to faith are clearly the impetus and motivation for that passion. Pro-life is blessed to have her fighting for this most worthy cause. Thank you, PULSE Life Advocates!”
Jean Severson agreed:
“It was an enjoyable evening with like-minded individuals united in a cause to save lives. Kristan Hawkins’ message emphasized that this is not merely about ourselves, but rather about God’s Kingdom.”

Many guests, such as Doug Volkmer, appreciated that Hawkins’ address wasn’t cookie-cutter, and in fact, highly thought-provoking:
“I loved the Gala. Everything went smoothly. Kristan Hawkins was fabulous! She grabbed my attention from the beginning and maintained it throughout the talk. Thought provoking indeed!”
Iowa legislator and pro-life candidate for Governor, Eddie Andrews, came away energized by the outpouring of youth at the Pulse Life Advocates Christmas Gala:
“As always, it was both entertaining and informative, and I am even more encouraged by the excitement of so many young people who have awakened to the value of life and speaking out for the unborn.”
To build on all of this youthful energy, Pulse Life Advocates officially opened the application process for our new $10,000 Pro-life Scholarship for college-bound seniors.
Pulse is pulling out the stops to reach Iowa youth with a multi-faceted pro-life campaign. It includes scholarships, March for Life pilgrimages, social media apologetic videos, and classroom curriculum.
We ask you to financially support our efforts with your gift today. Your gift is an investment in our kids, our families, and our state.
Will Iowa remain a pro-life state? Or will it regress back into one that turns its back on our unborn brothers and sisters?
Pulse knows you’ll partner with us to stand up for the little guy! We thank-you in advance for your support.
