Another baby saved by the Safe Haven Law!

Through the Safe Haven Law, a baby girl, born March 6 is now in the care and custody of the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and will be placed with a foster family until permanent placement is determined. This brings the overall total to 80 infants since the law went into effect more than two decades ago.

Iowa Health and Human Services released the most recent report on the Vital Statistics of Iowa. This data covers 2024 and shows that the number of abortions in Iowa dropped from 2,771 in 2023 to 1,792 in 2024, a thirty-five percent decline. Data includes chemical, but not mail-order abortions.
