Tell your legislators to support the Black Market Abortion Pill Bill
The abortion pill is a dangerous drug that harms woman and ends the life on an unborn child.
While we would support taking this drug completely off the market, in the meantime we want some common-sense safeguards to ensure the safety of women ingesting this drug. When it was first introduced in 2000, it required three in-person visits; could only be dispensed by a physician; and required follow-up and reporting of adverse events.
Now, this drug has virtually no restrictions and can be shipped through the mail directly to the woman’s home with no oversight or physical examination from a doctor.
This bill [HF2563 — The Black Market Abortion Pill Bill] will restore some of the initial safeguards, such as an in-person physical examination by a physician.
A recent study by the Ethics & Public Policy Center revealed that 1 in 10 women who take this drug will experience a severe adverse event—infection, hemorrhaging, and sepsis—and this is 22 times higher than what the FDA originally reported.
The abortion industry’s claims that this is ‘safe as Tylenol’ are absurd. There are profound physical ramifications, as state above; but the psychological and emotional ramifications are just as dangerous.
The abortion industry does not prepare these women for the reality of what they will witness: their dead baby, often times in the toilet. These women are left alone and traumatized by what they must endure.
This bill will require physicians to provide information regarding the risks and complications that can occur when taking this drug.
