Supervillain of the week

Pulse Life Advocates recognizes Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey with the distinction of ‘supervillain of the week.’ Her state already had one of the most permissive abortion laws on the books, allowing late term abortion up to birth with minimal exceptions. Intolerant of even “minimal exceptions”, she signed into law a particularly evil piece of legislation, sweeping away the last vestige of protection for the unborn child. 

The law says “an abortion may be performed by a physician based upon the professional judgment of the physician.” Is the physician also the abortionist who is paid a handsome fee to kill the 7 pound baby girl? Just asking.

Governor Healey signed the law over the objections of seven members of her own party who opposed the bill for its extremism (along with the entire skeleton crew of Republicans in the Massachusetts legislature).

Speaking for the dissent, Democratic State Rep. Jeffrey Turco said,

”This new law represents an extremist and dangerous position. To be clear, it allows abortion anytime, unrestricted, and in many cases, publicly funded until the moment of birth.”

He called the law “barbaric” and said it was “rushed through the legislative process in two weeks, without an opportunity for the public to weigh in,” emphasizing that the law is “out of step with the views of the average person in Massachusetts.”

This is a Democrat speaking. Governor Healey was undeterred.

Bishop Robert Barron reacted sharply to the Catholic Governor’s actions:

“The governor of Massachusetts just signed into law a statute that permits abortion up until the moment of birth, as long as mother and doctor give the go-ahead.

“Please understand what this means. A fully-formed child, moments before exiting the birth canal, can be eviscerated, chopped into pieces, have its head crushed or skin burned off—all under the full protection of Massachusetts law.

“What I found particularly gross was the reaction of the entirely female crowd around the female governor of Massachusetts as she signed this barbaric provision into law. They were clapping and cackling with delight because what can only be called infanticide can now be practiced with impunity in their state.”

This law is evil, allowing for the wanton destruction of fully formed, viable unborn babies who are weeks or even days away from taking their first breath. 

Only a supervillain could sign such a malevolent piece of legislation. Governor Healey is a candidate for the “Infanticide Hall of Fame.”
