Roe v Wade overturned 4 years ago today!

The Supreme Court overturned Roe v Wade on June 24th, 2022 with the Dobbs v Jackson Women’s Health Organization. The landmark ruling returned authority to regulate or ban abortion back to the states.

The decision wasn’t just the answer to a prayer. It wasn’t just the answer to a million prayers. It was an answer to the collective prayers of of pro-lifers since the awful Roe decision came down in 1973. 

Those prayers easily run into the billions, as pro-lifers repeated their prayers each time they prayed in front of Planned Parenthood asking God for an end to human abortion.

These pro-lifers repeated, and continue to repeat these prayers at church each Sunday. They repeat them at bedtime; standing in line at the post office; waiting at a stop light.

Prayers come from many directions, including the 64 million unique human beings whose lives were sacrificed on the altar of abortion. Denied their right to life, they surely offer their prayers from heaven in the hope of sparing their brothers and sisters from their painful fate.

The Pulse Life Advocates team marveled at the power of pro-life prayers just yesterday, as we gathered to celebrate the life of our founder Carolyn Thompson who died two years ago.

Carolyn’s family held a reception to honor her pro-life legacy. Photos of her remarkable career were everywhere, and she’s seen with Iowa’s Governors Robert Ray and his successor, Terry Branstad. She’s seen with president George H.W. Bush and a variety of Congressman and Senators.

The “Arena of Life”

Carolyn Thompson is the perfect model of the power of a single person stepping into the “arena of life.”

One woman started a movement in Iowa in 1972 with a few bucks and a whole lot of prayers. Today, Iowans For Life, rebranded as Pulse Life Advocates in 2022 around the time of the Dobbs decision, has grown remarkably, reaching more Iowans than ever with a life-affirming message.

To this day, we honor Carolyn Thompson’s legacy by maintaining the key to her success: prayer. Prayer is the foundation of the pro-life movement. It is the reason that Roe v Wade now lies on the dustbin of history.

It is the reason that it is only a matter of time until all abortion is expunged from the law books. God hates abortion. Abortion is a denial of His Love, of His very creation, whom He made in His very own image.

Join us in celebrating this miraculous anniversary: the end of Roe v Wade.

As you contemplate this hopeful outcome, think of Carolyn Thompson and the power of a single person who strives valiantly by stepping into the arena of life.

Remember these words from a passionately pro-life president, Teddy Roosevelt:
