Incredible breaking news in America!
There is so much good news about living in the United States of American, that even a curmudgeon wouldn’t know where to begin.
Let’s begin with Easter.
Christians celebrated Easter this year in America without fear of being kidnapped, tortured, or being blown up. In fact, 8 out of 10 Americans celebrated the most significant event in the history of the world, the resurrection of Jesus Christ, without any reports of violence.
That doesn’t mean we’re immune from violence in our houses of worship. There was a major uptick in attacks on churches in the U.S. when the Dobbs decision (which overturned Roe v Wade) was prematurely leaked. In all, acts of violence have increased in our houses of worship this century, with 380 violent incidents resulting in 490 deaths and hundreds of injuries.
Sounds like bad news, right? It is, if the story ended there. It doesn’t.
Miraculously, God can turn tragedy into triumph, as Jesus modeled on the cross. This Easter saw dramatic growth in the oldest, largest, and most pro-life church in the U.S. and the world: the Roman Catholic Church.
What a surge!
Dioceses across the U.S are giddy at the surge of new converts coming into the Church. Young people are flocking to the most pro-life institution in the world: the Roman Catholic Church.
Even the New York Times has noticed. In fact, they report that the Diocese of Des Moines enjoyed a 51% uptick last year, with another surge washing over us this Easter.
It’s happening everywhere.
- Norwich CT up 112%!
- Pueblo CO up 105%!
- Rapid City SD up 96%!
- Venice FL up 94%!
- Altoona-Johnstown PA up 84%!
- Harrisburg PA up 77%!
- Providence RI up 76%!
- Fall River MA up 71%!
- Colorado Springs up 64%!
- Philadelphia PA up 60%!
- Springfield-Cape Girardeau MO up 54%!
Love is sweeping the country!
Since God is Love, it’s safe to say that “Love is Sweeping the Country,” to quote the Gershwin Brothers.
Some speculate that Gen Z men flock to Catholicism out of a spirit of cultural rebellion.
Maybe. But there’s a lot more to it than that. They seek the Good, the True, and the Beautiful. This trio of transcendental values is hard to resist in a woke culture that promotes the Bad, the Fake, and the Ugly.
Lives inevitably dissipate when oversaturated by these base values. For the spirit that longs for goodness, truth and beauty, the Catholic Church provides a welcoming haven.
By contrast, mainline Protestantism is in trouble. Writing on the death of mainline Protestantism in First Things, Carl R Trueman offered a devastating observation:
“If Ernest Hemingway were to interview American mainline Protestantism in 2025, the conversation would go something like this: “How did you go spiritually bankrupt?” “Two ways. Gradually and then suddenly.”
Their embrace of wokeness, the gay agenda, and abortion rights has hurt them. Chasing the culture isn’t the way to survive, much less grow. Promoting the good, the true, and the beautiful is the path forward.
Sure, church attendance has ebbed and flowed throughout the entire history of the American experiment. We’re watching both happen right now at the same time.
Winners: churches that promote the good, the true, and the beautiful.
Losers: churches that don’t.
What a country!
America is incredible, despite the aggressive groanings to the contrary coming from the guardians of wokeness and abortion rights. If you listened to them, you’d be tempted to jump on a plane and fly off to live in another land.
How about somewhere in Africa? You might think twice. One in five Christians are persecuted for their faith on that continent.
How about Asia?
Even worse. Two in five Christians are persecuted for their faith.
But in this incredible country, our Constitution GUARANTEES our religious liberty in the FIRST Amendment to our Constitution:
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
So the incredible breaking news on this Easter Monday? The United States of America is the greatest country in the world. Its citizens are the luckiest people in the world, and don’t let anyone tell you anything different.
We’ve got a lot of work to do. A million babies are still aborted every year in the U.S., a tragic denial of the Declaration of Independence. But Pulse is at work fighting for our unborn Iowa babies, and making a difference.
Pulse Life Advocates participates in the America 250 Project which celebrates the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Our executive, Maggie DeWitte, expresses our love for America in the video above.
Join us in the fight to end abortion now!

What is your response to the Trumo administration trying to bully Pope Leo to go along with Trump’s cruelty, warmongering and corruption?
As with all presidents, we support good public policy and oppose bad, with a focus on those policies that affect our pro-life mission. We opposed President Obama’s attacks on the Little Sisters of the Poor. We opposed President Biden’s use of the FACE Act to criminalize praying in front of abortion clinics. We oppose corruption regardless of the occupant of the White House, and encourage him or her to avoid getting into unnecessary arguments with the Pope.
