Governor DeSantis speaks about his views on abortion

DeSantis abortion viewsFlorida Governor Ron DeSantis announced his candidacy for the presidency yesterday. Later that evening, he was interviewed by Trey Gowdy on Fox for his views on abortion. Here is a recap of DeSantis’ abortion views:

“I’ve been proud as governor to stand for a culture of life. I think all Republicans need to do that. We were able to sign legislation protecting the unborn child with a detectable heartbeat. We believe that is the humane thing to do.

It’s similar to what Governor Reynolds did in Iowa. I applaud her for that. Dobbs returned the issue to the elected representatives of the people.I think there is a role for both the federal and the state.

I think at the end of the day, fighting for life and protecting life is really a bottom up movement. I think we’ve been able to have successes at the local level. I am concerned about a Democratic administration with a trifecta trying to nationalize abortion up to birth. That would be a violation of what states like Florida have done to protect life. It would be a violation of what states like Iowa have done to protect life.

I think it would be an abuse of power for them to try to override every single pro-life protection in this country and allow abortion right up to the moment of birth which 90% of Americans find to be truly horrific.”

Love Governor DeSantis position on life yes and we’re fortunate that since President Trumps historic victories in the pro-life movement it is now more fashionable for presidential candidates to make a pro-life position .
